Two Countries That Produce Coffee

Do you know what countries export the most coffee beans? I bet you would be very surprised to learn these two countries are Vietnam and Brazil. I bet you knew about Brazil, but Vietnam? Keep reading to learn more about these two coffee producing countries. The amount of coffee exported from these two countries is slightly larger than 2 million metric tons every single year! That is a very large amount of coffee.

South America - Brazil

Brazil is the world's leading coffee producer, as we who perform espresso machine reviews are aware of, as Brazil exports a very large percentage of all coffee the entire world consumes. Very few people are aware of the fact that the coffee plant is not a natural plant of Brazil, the coffee plants of today were initially imported into the country centuries ago. It was back in the 1700s when the coffee plant was first introduced to the country of Brazil. As time went by the coffee plant created a brand new agricultural industry for Brazil thus making Brazil the world's leading coffee producer. Due to the explosion of coffee growing in Brazil the city of Sao Paulo quickly became the most populated city in that country due to the many coffee plantations surrounding that area. As a result 19 million people currently reside in the city of Sao Paulo today!

Nearly ten thousand square miles in Brazil is dedicated to coffee production, with over six billion trees. Brazil has been the world's leading producer of coffee for the past 150 years, and at one point exported 90% of the world's entire coffee supply. Just how much coffee does Brazil produced every year? Well, in 2007 alone Brazil produced over 2 million metric tons of coffee. That is not equaled by any country today. One would think that coffee production in the country of Brazil is controlled by Brazilian companies. This is not true as the two top companies that are responsible for a large percentage of Brazil's coffee production are American.

Vietnam

Vietnam has been producing coffee on a large scale since the 1900s. Very much like the country of Brazil the coffee plant was not indigenous to the country of Vietnam. As it should be suspected it was the French to introduce Vietnam to the coffee plant late in the 1850s, thus Vietnamese plantations have been growing this prosperous plant ever since. The only interruption to coffee production was during a short period during the Vietnam War. The first country to establish a manufacturing plant that made instant coffee was Vietnam. That is truly amazing considering Vietnam is a third world country!

Coffee is the second export for Vietnam, falling behind rice which is the top export. Vietnam is the second leading worldwide producer of coffee, exporting over 1 million metric tons of coffee every single year. Most Vietnam coffee plantations are locally-owned or owned by the state.
The type of coffee grown in Vietnam is not widely available outside of Asia. Buon Ma Thuá»™t is a name that describes several types of coffee, named for the region in which they grow. The coffee is brewed in single serving cups and usually lightened with sweetened condensed milk.

There are certainly other countries that grow and export coffee, but these two countries are the preeminent leaders in export of coffee beans today. If you are truly a coffee aficionado you will more than likely seek out coffee beans that are grown and imported from these two countries if you have not already. More likely than not you have had a mixture of these beans in your ground coffee that is purchased at your local grocery store. While these may be considered exotic imports, both Brazilian and Vietnamese coffee beans have been making their way into American coffee brands throughout the past several decades.

I Had the Best Vietnamese Coffee?
But in this little town I can not find the cream they used to make it. Do you no where I can find it, if you no what I am talking about? It was a thick cream and it had Vietnamese or Asian writing on it. I used to be able to buy it at a Asian store my friends took me too. You would make the coffee cold over ice, and really strong. I bought the little maker for the coffee there at that store. Any help out there?
