How to Open a Coffee Shop - Marketing For Success
When opening your own
coffee shop, think deeply about the specific neighborhood you are in and methods that might work for you to reach customers. Some of these may be methods other
coffee shops, bars, and restaurants have used, and others may occur to you by thinking from the perspective of your customers. Here are two examples of common marketing methods to consider.
Street Visibility
Since purchasing a cup of coffee, other beverage, or a snack at a coffee shop is often an impulse purchase, your street presence must be attractive and compelling to passersby. Your shop signage must display your business name clearly and leave no question about what you sell, whether through words or images (for example, image of a coffee mug). Sandwich boards posted on the sidewalk can add additional space to promote specific items or deals, but make sure to check the legality of where you can and cannot put items on the sidewalk. Likewise, make sure to check on the laws regulating banners or signs that jut out over the sidewalk. Permits from the city may be required for these.
No matter what you choose, take care to make sure your exterior design is consistent and attractive. Using a professional designer to handle this or to consult on dos and don'ts can be a great help. The exterior design should have the same feel as the interior design, so that the "promises" made by the look of the street graphics is fulfilled by the environment and services inside your coffee shop.
Free Samples
Offering free samples on the street or at a separate station within the store can be a simple way to generate excitement and interest in your shop soon after it opens. If you have an exciting signature coffee or drink you can find a way to offer sample size cups, although offering small food items may be simpler.
Make sure to have an employee assigned to the free samples, both to ensure that they are properly looked after and replenished and to be able to discuss the story behind the new shop with customers. This kind of staff-customer interaction is just as important to a successful free sample campaign as the ability for customers to try your products without commitment.

How should I go about rekindling it with this girl?
Saw a girl over the last 6 weeks or so of school...was going well went on a few dates were studying for finals together a lot and the sex was pretty regular...anyways she left for the summer first overseas then back home...i didnt really stay in touch which was my bad, but she just recently got back and i saw her out the other night and i think i made a jerk of myself a little...i thought she had ditched me at a party saw her later and may have overreacted a little and then the cops came and we went our seperate ways...we were both pretty wasted i think so i dunno id like to think i didnt shoot my whole foot off
here's what i was thinking call her tomorrow 3 days after and ask if she wants to get some coffee or something to catch up theres this cool organic coffee shop that we both like and have been to before, i hope it will go better than all the paranoia etc that alcohol breeds. so what do you guys think, good plan? suggestions?
i like her too much to atleast not try...i mean if it doesnt work out it wasnt meant to be i guess but im not ready to move on without at least a last ditch effort...

Which place is best for our reception?
We have 10 guests for our wedding and reception. Our budget is about $1,000. Which place is best? The wedding is in January (not this year) in Anchorage Alaska. Our colors are different shades of blue, but those colors don't need to carry over into the reception decor.
The options are:
Terra Bella Cafe: an organic coffee shop and cafe. The food is lovely, they have beautiful art on display, they have two fireplaces, and it is a place we frequent as a couple. We would probably have to rent this palce out special, in the evening, which could be spendy, but it would also be very private. Here's a photo of an event going on in there, so you can see kind of what it looks like.

Then there is the Corsair Restaurant:
Fine dining restaurant with a full (expensive) bar and delectable cuisine. When my fiance and I ate there before, it cost about $150 to feed both of us, including drinks for him, since I am still underage (won't be for the wedding!)

And Lastly, Little Italy:
This is where we had our first date (it was rather painful but kind of funny to look back on). It is an Italian restaurant that is better than Olive Garden but not exactly fine dining. The food is more reasonably priced, but it is much busier, and the intimacy may not be there like it would at the other places. Unfortunately I don't have a link for this place.
