We've tried several lower end brands and models, but the Gaggia Classic has definitely been money well spent. My husband and I really enjoy drinking coffee- espresso for him and cappuccino for me- and with this unit, we weren't disappointed. It brews cup after cup perfectly every time.
This maker is amazingly simple to use, and you'll be making great espresso minutes after taking it out of the box. There are detailed instructions and a CD to help you if you have any problems. I do recommend watching the CD even if you think you know how to operate it. I removed the water tray before reading the directions. This was a big mistake, because I had a hard time putting everything back together.
It's a sturdy machine that looks really nice and sleek with the stainless steel on my kitchen counter top. It is definitely easy on the eyes.After doing extensive research on the Internet and talking to several friends who are espresso aficionados, it is clear to me that $500 is the price range you need to be in that will consistently make a good espresso. Gaggia is considered the best of the best and my husband and I have to agree with the experts.
