African Coffee Origins - A Look Inside This Treasured Industry

African coffee is widely regarded as some of the highest quality coffee worldwide. There are multiple regions of this country that produce quality coffee beans. As a matter of fact, in some areas of Africa you will find coffee growing in the wild!

There are several different areas of Ethiopia that produce coffee. There are a lot of smaller family farms in an area called Harrar, and these beans get dry processed. The beans coming from this area tend to get placed into different classifications according to their size. The coffee that comes out of Ethiopia tends to be more full-bodied with a heavy aroma. In some cases, if you are dealing with a crop that is particularly high in quality, you may even detect a light berry scent. There are a lot of espresso blends that contain this kind of coffee because of the lovely scent that it exudes.

A lot of instant coffee is made from Robusta beans that come from Uganda. However, this area also produces Arabica coffee, and many people say that it tastes quite a bit like Kenyan coffee. You can still find a lot of Robusta beans growing wild in the rainforests of Uganda. Banana trees provide the perfect shade for the coffee to grow beneath, so this area is absolutely ideal.

Due to the fact that the farmers there do not have a whole lot of money to spend on labor and equipment, they will often end up growing Robusta beans just because it is easier. The farmers who have a little more money to work with will sometimes choose to grow the Arabica beans. This is more expensive, and it does require more labor. However, it does fetch a higher price which helps to make up for it. These Arabica beans tend to be a little bit sweeter, but they are full bodied. They are often used to make Espresso.
