Over dependence on technology is quite a critical issue in the world today. Technological inventions produced by man like television, calculators, social networks, as well as other forms of technology created basically to distract man as well as keep him from using his full potential. Has allowed technology to have a defining factor in our lives, man has come to the point where he is unable to perform simple task without the aid of technology. Leading me to my overall claim that man must Tone down the use of technology in order to realize his independent state, but also salvage nature, the little that is remaining.
I find this to be fact ringing true to my ears yet hard to come to grips with. For instance, we may expound on an ordinary person?s life where he is dependent on a timer to alert him in the morning. For his breakfast, he relies on a coffee machine, a television to update him on important news and a vehicle for his transport among other uses of electronics. Electronics base their roots in man?s creativity and innovation; however, he is becoming too dependent on them. Concurrently, we have let too much technology in people?s lives, subsequently leading to negligence of nature. Amid the dominant technological progress man has made, he has continually degraded nature endangering himself among others species on the face of the earth. Thus, man has gained sluggishness in his ways of life through overdependence of technology at the cost of nature.
Ignorance is one of the troubles facing nature. However, it is not to be blamed entirely, but on the fact that man is dependent on technology to make it through life easily. From the households to hospital equipments not neglecting schools, technology has proved to be vital, making life easy in a progressive state. Man is in a position where he cannot live without technology and as time passes new things are being discovered. This is a crystal indicator that man is not on a backward movement and is not ceasing the use of technology. However, there are things that man can still perform to display his natural side of life. Thus, creating an awareness of how valuable the natural environment is to humans.
In accordance to one of Pitzer College's educational foundation core values, social responsibility is an indispensable part of man?s life. Thus, man should carry out his activities with social responsibility at heart and mind. Moreover, man has the responsibility of taking care of nature, and his social well-being. Toning down the use of technology, will not only enable man to realize his independency state, but also salvage nature, the little that is remaining. Thus, curbing the shortcomings technology is rendering the natural environment with social responsibility as a key aspect.
Respect towards nature and all that pertains to it is acting on a socially responsible ground; thus, gaining a better environment. Nature is an integral part of humankind as it supplies us with various things such as water, food and oxygen among other highly necessary things in life. In light of this, it is man?s duty to protect all nature?s products. Hence, according to Pitzer College's core value, social responsibility, man in industries, for example, could adjust to less emission of noxious gases. Moreover, man can shift his concentration and dependence on technology and allow nature to take its course. Such activities involve planting trees to provide natural shade instead of relying on artificial shades; hence, man should preserve nature and maintain a sense of responsibility. Ultimately, man needs to check on his activities at least once and try to gain the most ancient of human conditions. As a college student, the thought of salvaging nature as a way of being socially responsible may seem as a tough task to carry out, but one may start with basic activities. These may include recognition of the need to salvage the natural environment in addition to things such as joining campaigning against forest destructions among many other things. In a way, this will ensure that man relies less on technology and more on nature.
As a solution to the impact technology is taking on man, everyone should unplug for a while and enjoy the world that God has blessed us with in the natural surroundings. It may seem to many that being socially responsible towards the environment as being ancient. However, Alexander Supertramp once said, ?It is important in life to not necessary be strong but to feel strong, to measure yourself at least once to find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions.? Thus, man, college students too, should occasionally have a check on his activities, change his ways towards the betterment of the environment in all aspects. In turn, uphold social responsibility and rely less on technology, which is turning to be more of a part of his nature than it is of help to him.
