Bring Me Back Something French

I pass French Roast everyday as it's a block from my boyfriend's apartment. We've been saving it to try for brunch, but my friend Cali and I opted for proximity in this frigid weather today and gave it a shot. The corner dig draws you right in with an authentic parisian exterior. From the font on the sign to the wicker chairs sitting two-by-two at round tables, the place is adorable.

The menu is standard: soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, entrees. We're both sandwich girls: Cali chose turkey and cranberry sauce on rye and I chose blackened organic chicken breast on a baguette. Shamefully, we both requested fries over salad, but that is very French to be fair.

The meals weren't spectacular, but sufficient for a lunch more about the conversation than the substance. My chicken was lean but filling and flavorful enough. Cali liked the turkey more and finished her entire sandwich, if that tells you anything. The fries and service were great and it made for a comfortable, simple lunch date.

Perks: the staff's friendly, we ate for $11 each, there's a full bar, and they're open 24 hours a day. It's easily accessible if you're around the West Village and pretty spacious. I imagine the entrees are a bit more impressive, but they're pricey. I say it's worth a try, but not a must. See for yourself, especially if you're looking for something French.

Location: 11th St & 6th Ave (also at 85th St. and Broadway)

Subways: Take the B/D/F or L to 14th St and 6th Ave

Price: $10-$15 a meal, excluding beverages

I've joined Gevalia before and didn't like their coffee and would like to know what is the best coffee club?
I'm thinking about Cafe Belmondo but I don't want a bad tasting coffee like gevalia. I like all medium to dark folgers and medium to dark bodied bean coffee. French roast, columbian, and gourma. I'm looking to join a coffee club that offers great tasting coffee. Can you help me? Thank you.

Last minute christmas shopping!?!?!!?! for 14 year old girls :]?
So I have 8 friends that I have to get x-mas presents for. But I'm kind of broke... This is what I've gotten them so far. But I want to add something else. I made them really tiny homemade cards. (they're plain, but they look cute) I made them little bags filled with chocolate covered gummy bears (I mad the chocolate covered gummy bears) and I named them "Reindeer droppings" haha. I made them a 2008/2009 CD mix. With songs that I like, that they like too I think. And the only thing I bought them was a pair of christmas toe socks from Claire's. (they're fuzzy and have a snowman on them) I feel like I'm being so cheap. What else should I get them? Or make them, that will complete they're gift? Bonus question: These are the Christmas presents I got for my family: Mom: http://thebodyshop-ca.stores.yahoo.net/vanillaspicecelebrations.html Dad:I bought him a bag of Starbucks coffee. (French Roast Extra Bold) Brother(10): I bought him a lot of candy from Bulkbarn. I was thinking of painting my parents a picture of Me, my brother and my dog. I have professional paints, and a canvas. Do you think I should do that? Sorry there's so much too read. Thankyou so much if you could help :D

help with brewing ground coffee?
Hi Everyone! I just purchased a packet of Starbucks ground coffee French Roast and I'm not sure how to brew it, as I've never brewed coffee before. I feel very tempted to purchase a french press maker because it's the quickest, but I don't know if the French Roast coffee is coarse enough for the french press. (Can somebody please tell me if the French Roast is coarse or not?) My other option is to purchase a drip coffee maker, but I heard it takes a while to brew coffee with this machine. Does anyone know how long it really takes to brew coffee with a drip coffee maker? Thank you!
