Weird word problem? Help is very appreciated.?
My math teacher gives us crazy word problems, and this happens to be one of them. Algebra.
...The pipe came in sections 50 ft long and 100 inches in diameter. Paul would take two sections, put them end to end, and twist out against the other so fast they would get white hot and weld themselves together. Then he would add another and keep going. 35 trucks hauling pipe were needed to keep him supplied.
During work breaks, Paul liked to gulp down hot coffee. Coffee pots wore out quickly and didn't hold enough, so Paul made one from a section of pipe by welding a steel plate on the bottom. He would build a big fire and make coffee for himself, all the workers for miles around, and any eskimos who happened to come along.
How many gallons of coffee could Paul make at a time? (gallon=231 cubic inches)

There is a lot of irrelevant info, which I think confuses me most. I'm not entirely sure what to pay attention to.

Tell me what you think of this situation....?
So this morning I woke up at around 730 to study before my test at 930. I brought a coffee maker to school and we have been using it every morning to make coffee. She (my roommate) usually makes it because I don't exactly always know how much to make but she was asleep and I didn't know when she was gonna get up and i NEEDED coffee to study and not fall back asleep. So I made what I thought was plenty and took half and saved her half. When she was almost out the door she looked at the coffee and said wow this is only like a shot of coffee! and i thought she was joking... she then asked me if i had creamer and i said no.. so she got mad that it was black (like its my fault?) so she texts me right before my exam and goes "i guess its cool that you only left me a little coffee and its black it tastes like ****" ............................i was literally just shocked. i explained to her calmly that i thought it was enough and that i didnt take anymore than what she got but she continued to have an attitude and say how whenever she makes it its perfect for me but i cant do the same for her.
let me recap- she has started a fight over coffee.. COFFEE!!! i decided to just say that next time we will make our own coffee or ill just let her do it so she gets enough..
Anyways, id appreciate feedback on what you wouldve done in this situation.. i tried to just take the high rode ya know?
thanks :)
