Coffee Maker - Which coffee maker? Grinding Out The Answer

Great coffee doesn't just happen on its own. It's a unique and very personal process for some. One of the reasons coffee is such a world loved beverage is because there are so many types you can enjoy. From creamers to flavorings and even the type of filter you use, the taste of your coffee is altered with every step in the process, especially how it is brewed.

Making coffee is a lot more that flicking on a switch when you stumble down to your kitchen in the morning half asleep. Coffee starts as a small red berry on a bush called the coffee cherry. This small plant is cultivated around the world but each region has a specific and distinct taste of their bean. Locals harvest the bean (usually by hand), dry the product and then send it out for roasting where it is usually packaged for sale. Some manufacturers will sell beans pre-ground and other establishments will grind beans for you at their place of business.

At this point you need to decide what type of coffee maker you will be using. There are many different types and they will all affect your coffee in a different way. There are really three types of coffee makers for you to choose from. The most popular among the bunch is a filter coffee maker that basically drips boiling water over the ground coffee beans over a filter of gold, nylon or paper. Next, there are the espresso/cappuccino coffee makers. With these machines, you get a very concentrated coffee product by forcing an ounce and a half of water through finely ground and tightly packed coffee grounds. Finally, there is a combination coffee maker which allows you to make both cappuccino and filter coffee.

When choosing a coffee maker, choose one that suits your coffee-drinking needs. Take into consideration things like; how much and how often you make yourself a cup, how rich do you like your coffee, and most importantly, how much you are willing to pay for it.

If you are uncertain of how you like your coffee, try a few different kinds and ask how they were made. You will quickly discover the types of beans you prefer and the intensity and flavor you enjoy the most. Happy drinking!

The best way to capture the best part of your bean is to grind the beans yourself when you are ready to brew. Coffee grinders are yet another crucial and integral part of making the best cup of joe you can. When it comes to grinding yourself, there are several options of grinders to choose from. As with all things you need to make sure it is the best option for you otherwise you will regret your purchase of a coffee maker.
